EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

In addition to the daily fun and learning that happens with the classroom teachers, Cedarhouse provides several outlets for additional enrichment. The following activities in including with tuition and are meant to enhance learning by providing a cross-curricular experience for different kinds of learners.

WEEKLY MORNING ENRICHMENT CLASSES

Music and Movement (toddler and older)

Students venture to the movement room to sing and act out silly songs, learn new dances, wave ribbons, shake tambourines, or bang the rhythm sticks in a musical parade! The activities in this class focus on fine to gross motor skills using balance, rhythm, and coordination in both structured activity and free play.

Fitness (toddler and older)

Take a peek in the movement room during Fitness and you’ll see bodies in motion! We rock out to music as we jump, skip, crawl, and gallop. Children are challenged by obstacle courses, bounce balls like popcorn with a giant parachute, and much more!

Spanish (2 years and older)

Our Spanish teacher travels from classroom to classroom, from Elms to Pre-K, carrying fun props to share. Children learn basic counting and colors, read Spanish stories, learn animal names, sing songs, and much more! Spanish words that relate to our theme each week are incorporated in the lessons.

Kick Start Reading (pre-k classes)

Pre-K students focus on having fun while sharpening their reading skills. A reading specialist works with students to increase their phonemic awareness, literacy, and language skills. The goal for this class is to prepare children for school and promote a passion for reading.

We also recognize how busy our families are, so we offer a variety of optional extra-curricular programs such as karate, soccer and dance. These occur during our normal business hours so that parents can enjoy their evenings without rushing out to special classes.
